MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WPDE) — Students had the opportunity to explore their future careers on Wednesday.
Pathways2Possibilities South Carolina held the first day of their two-day career expo at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center.
Nearly 7,000 eighth graders from nine counties in the Pee Dee signed up for a hands-on career exploration experience.

Executive Director of the Frances P Bunnelle Foundation in Pawleys Island, Geales Sands, said the goal is to help kids find a job they see themselves doing in the future. The experience also prepares them for what the job might look like, pay and the steps to get there.
“It’s fun to watch the interaction of the employers getting the kids excited, the kids getting excited about what those employers do," Sands said.
The expo had many different career fields including transportation, health science, aerospace, energy and finance.

Sands said this is the seventh year they’ve done the expo, and Tidelands Health has been sponsoring it since the beginning.
